How to care for your jeans
Wash less, turn them inside out and skip the dryer, and your jeans will last for years.
Good jeans last for years and only look better with age, if you look after them. A few simple rules keep their colour and shape.
Wash less
Jeans don't need washing after every wear. Without stains, once every 5–10 wears is enough. In between, just air them out; it's the easiest way to freshen them.
Inside out, in cool water
Turn them inside out and do up the button and zip before washing. Keep the water at 30°C or below on a delicate cycle. Less dye washes out and the seams don't stretch.
Go easy on detergent
Use a liquid detergent for colours and skip bleach. For black jeans, a detergent for dark clothes keeps the colour longer.
The dryer is denim's enemy
High heat breaks down elastane: jeans shrink and the knees go baggy. Hang them by the waistband to dry, out of direct sun.
Ironing and storage
If you need to, iron them inside out on medium heat. Store them folded or hung by the waistband; no hanger needed.
Length matters
Jeans that are too long bunch at the ankle and wear through quickly. We hem jeans bought at Allmax for free in store, usually in 30 minutes.
